Replacing Front License Plate hardware
Folks,
Forgive me if I'm posting this in the wrong place (if so, can a moderator move this to a more appropriate forum?).
When I took delivery of my S2000 (used), I didn’t realize that the front license plate was mounted using none stock parts. When I put the vehicle in storage for the winter, I removed the plates to make this discovery. As a result, I took a ride to Honda to get the OEM parts to replace the stripped out components. This weekend, I was trying to figure out how to get behind the front bumper/nose to install the OEM parts. Does anyone have experience here on how to do that? Thanks in advance!

You shouldn't need to get behind anything. There is a Y shaped metal piece that bolts to a pre-drilled hole in the upper part of the grille. This piece affords the two bottom holes for mounting a license plate. The two upper holes are drilled into the bumper itself.
Hello Doc,
Thanks for posting. The aftermarket plate holder was only using two of the predrilled upper holes. I'll take a look to see what you are talking about regarding the Y shaped bracket and lower holes. The original threaded nut plates that go on the inside of the bumper skin are lying on the inside of the bumper, one of them is bent for sure. The nut plate has two slotted holes adjacent to the threaded nuts that are spot welded to the plate. I am assuming that the slotted holes slip over two stems on the inside of the bumper, essentially holding them in place. The bolts would draw the plate against the inside of the bumper when fastening the license plate.
I was able to learn that there is an OEM plate mount (large injection molded piece) and a metal bracket, which may be the bracket that connects to the lower holes you mentioned. Now that I know there are lower holes, I'm going to try and piece this together. My big issue is that without at least the upper nut plates installed, I'll have nothing to fasten the aftermarket plate holder to. The solution from the dealer was to use large wood screws/bolts to fasten to directly to the bumper skin. Not an ideal solution.
