Default S2000 Soft Top Tension Cable

I am replacing the soft top on my AP2 and I noticed that one of the tension cables that threads through along the side of the soft top had snapped - I guess water got in and the cable rusted through. One side, the one with the spring on it seems pretty simple to attach, but the attachment point towards the front of the top is riveted in, and I'm not sure that i'll be able to get a rivet gun in there if I drill that rivet out. Has anyone here had these cables snap? How did you repair it?

On another note, does anyone have a spare one? It looks like they are out of stock everywhere.

If you are referring to the straps on each side, try these Convertible Top Fix
No riveting required...

He's referring to the spring loaded cables that thread through the edges of the top. Those are riveted. I've never replaced one without replacing the whole top, so I'm not sure how easy it would be to replace while the top is on the car. I can look later when I have some free time if someone hasn't answered the question.

Tried that. No one in the country has these in stock. Already tried calling Japan to get this part. The only one that exists in the US has already been sold.... so if you have this part I will pay top dollar.

Look in today's topics. Someone around DC is asking for assistance to remove his roof and it doesn't look like it's going back on. He should have the cable you need. Maybe two of them.

Check with Topsonline.com. They sell them along with aftermarket tops. They may not be OEM, but they work like it. https://www.topsonline.com/model/Con...nda_S2000.html

Sorry I forgot about this thread. I'll check on the attachment while the top is still on. (Would be easy to check the DIY thread, but everyone and their brother used Photobucket apparently).

While replacing the top I also ran into a broken cable and a worn cable. Research indicated that these were going to be very hard to find.

Just ordered a pair from Topsonline.com. About the same price as a dealer would have charged if they could get them. Happy to have tracked them down.
