Sap Damage on Paint

Sap Damage on Paint
I recently bought a 2000 S2000 and the previous owner made the mistake of parking under a tree that dripped sap onto the hood. The end result is not good. There are white spots on the hood, about the size of a pencil eraser. Any ideas on what he best course of action would be to fix these? Should the whole hood be repainted?

Definitely first try applying something like Autoglym Tar Remover on the sap. I've had great success with it. There might be some residual etching in the paint (caused by the sap) that requires a polish to remove.
Hard to tell without seeing the hood in person, but a repaint would be an extreme measure.

Has the Sap been removed and what we are seeing is a paint discoloration?
If so there are two options.
1: wet sand and buff the area
2: you might burn through or still see the spots so you'll need to paint it.
Best of luck

I had this happen to me a while ago. Try using Goo bee gone. Its not to expensive and use a microfiber towel mi ed with some elbow greese and it should help take most off pretty easily.

Check your insurance policy. I remember having to do a full repaint for a BMW with this same problem. She left her car under a tree and the sun baked it In over a few days. Claimed as comprehensive.
