So I'm shopping around for a '02-'03 s2000... And for each one, I've seen this problem.
The paint on the sideskirts/underbody below the door is chipping/peeling... It's mostly only visible when you view it from the sides...

So is this as common as I think it is?
Is it fixable?

aren't those areas the jack points, where you would expect it to chip and peel over time?

 

This seem common for most cars as the undercarriage take a beating from all the elements of driving. The cars paint is not bulletproof, rocks and debris from the road will deteriorate the paints finish over time. You can fix this rather easily with more undercoating.
