Default 2003 s2000 front clunking/banging noise

Hey all, this is my first post in the forum
So, I started hearing this clunking noise / popping noise when ever I would drive over uneven payment, gravel road, pot holes . speed humps, etc.. Sometimes it would sound like the front end was about to come out. I identify it to the front drivers side.

It is so hard to describe what it sounds like, It's like a dull pop or a banging noise..

Anyway I took it to my mechanic and he disassembled every part of the suspension and check it out, and nothing, everything seems perfectly normal. He suggests it may be the steering rack but i highly doubt it.. car has around 80k miles..

I can even hear/feel it when the radio is on... between that noise and the rear plastics, im loving the car less and less..

youtube video, you can barely hear the noise in the video but in the car it seems like a metal is hitting something pretty hard. NOISE at 00:03 00:07 and 00:09 secs.

Is your suspension modified?

Its hard to imagine that the noise is not coming from the suspension. I'd get a second opinion.

Sounds like the same noise I had when my MY03 was new with 1500 miles on it. I took it in for warranty and the dealership replaced the L/F strut. Now with 30,xxx miles on the car the noise is back and I'm looking into a new suspension setup.

try the jounce test.
go to each corner and try to bounce the vehicle by pushing down. (be careful not to make any dents)
it should just come up a little pass ride height, and then settle back at ride height.
if it does more than that.
your dampers could be blown.

are R and L struts the same? could I switch them and see if the noise moves to the other side?
