Default Aligntment/Possible bent control arm

Hey Guys,

I recently installed SPC ball joints all the way around and I can't seem to get my front right (passenger side) camber to go above -1.
Before I installed the ball joints the max camber I could get was -1, and after I installed the ball joints I could still only get -1. The left front (driver side) can go up to -2 no problem. I'm debating if replacing a lower control arm would fix this.

Any suggestions or clue where to check?

Thanks.

I am having a similar issue with the right rear of my 02 S trying to determine the cause before I spend money on a new lower control arm. Anyone have any suggestions on this?

Hi mate. i use to have a 02 s2k (now have 05) but i had exactly the same issue.

i was told lower control arm was bent... so i spent $610 and bought a new one... mechanic installed it and said its good... went to get a wheel alignment and issue was no different. after cracking it coz i just got ripped, i found a new mechanic and they told me to take it to a panel shop and have the car put on a jig and have it all checked to see if the car is straight...

car goes up on a jig, front bumper comes off etc etc... long story short - car had been in serious accident. left chassis rail was pushed back a lot compared to right... and where the upper control arm is bolted to the body, right there there was a crease in the panel...

it could be fixed but i pretty much had to replace front end and get chassis pulled back....

so i sold it!

my opinion , take car to panel shop (good panel shop) and get them to put it on a jig and see if everything lines up.

Hey guys,
sorry for the rebirth also
i found out my problem.
a lot of people suggested all these different things, tie rod ends etc etc etc.

i did end up solving this problem.

i Removed every bush in the car and replaced it with brand new Spoon bushes. (you can use genuine).

Before you do this though, buy a Spoon Rigid Collar Kit for front and rear sub frame.

once i installed this kit, (with the new bushes) the problem was 100% gone.

i had 3 wheel allignments before that, changed tyres, used nitrogen to set exact tyre pressures... nothing worked. it got really bad.

When the S2k's were built, the drive train goes in the car from the bottom and 12 bolts hold the entire front and rear sub frames in. the holes that the bolts go though are a little bigger than the actual bolts.
this is basically so the bolts go in easy on the production line and it is fast. The subframe NEVER lines up 100% with the chassis. They then correct this with a wheel alignment ot make sure the car drives straight.

I think my dad hit a huge pot hole one night and this could have moved or slightly shifted the subframe a tiny bit. then the issue became massive and no one could work it out.

The collar kits are available from GOTUNING.com. They make a huge difference.

there is an alignment hole on the front and rear subframe to stick a screw driver in... my screw driver barely went in it was so far off.

i Highly recommend this collar kit mod. even if your car does drive straight, the car handles so much better with it in. and my subframe is 100% lined up with the chassis. cheers
