Brake Component Question
Hi,
Been a member a long time but kept quiet. Have a 2001 S2000 for 10 years now-bought at 18000 miles and 10 years later 30500 miles, had lots of fun. Had all the fluids changed 3 times in that period-had it done last fall at a good Honda dealer near me an was told the brake reservoir sensor was bad and it's part of the master cylinder, all they could do was not plug in the connecting cable to the sensor, so no light, and told me it must be a master cylinder issue and the parts, including the master cylinder, are no longer available. Told the light says brake fluid low , but fluid was correct and never had low brake fluid issues. any ideas on remedying the problem the correct way?

Is it just the sensor that went bad?
Just search eBay for a used one.
Or look on honda parts sites for what you need. www.bernardiparts.com, for example.

I don't know about the comment about parts not being available. I replaced a leaking MC recently and had no trouble sourcing a new OEM part. It's not cheap but you can get it:

However, if you can get just the sensor, that "might" save the headache of bleeding the ABS system. This is by far the worst part of replacing the MC. But if you have a dealer do it, they have the tool to cycle the ABS pump so you don't have to engage the ABS while driving.

Quick glance at the Service Manual shows the level switch is "included in the master cylinder" not a separate part. A leaking surplus master cylinder would be a source for the switch but I didn't note a way to replace the switch even if you had one.
Master cylinders for the S2000 abound on Ebay in the $50-$100 range.
