So I checked and it wasnt the swaybar. I stopped off at Kragen and spoke to their manager a bit and he told me that it could be something with the rear cv joints?

If it helps, this has been my cars suspension setups over the years from oldest to current:

OEM
OEM shocks w/Tanabe GF210 springs
Buddyclub N+
OEM
BC Racing BR coilovers - current

OVer the years, could these setups have broken anything? When i had the N+ I was pretty slammed so i assume thats when the damage started. When i put the OEM's back on, the noise showed up and now im on my second set of coils and its still here...

Swapped my coilovers the other day and gave the hubs a good shake. Don't hear or feel any shake. Checked all the bolts I could reach and they were all tight. Someone told me it might be the differential mounts, so the axles could be a viable option as well.

This may sound stupid, and I apologize but...

Just a suggestion - but check and see if your spare tire is tightened down all the way. I had a friend who came back from a track day (where he took the tire out and put back in on the way home) and heard a very loud rattle/knocking sound coming from the right rear. He thought it was a suspension issue.

You've probably already ruled it out, but it's the only other non-posted idea I could think of. Hope you get things figured out.

I've had this problem right after I bought my car. Came to find out there's a tsb out on the axel nut, its the big bolt in the middle of your brake rotor. Honda increase it from factory 180 ft/lbs to 230 ft/lbs. See if that helps. That's what solved my problem. Here's the thread https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/681...ons-1999-2009/ under "All 1999-2009" third one down in red

did you make sure the preload on the spring of the coilover was right? A loose spring on it can cause this.

So I did a cv joint swap today which entails removing the rear axles from the car and reinstalling. From my initial drives, it sounds like the clunking is gone. I will see how it progresses over the week.

Make sure the tophat nut is tight, should be 17MM.
