Default damaged dust boot help

i broke down my corners after the last track day at PBRI. i found my right rear dust boot on my caliper piston was damaged. it appeared to be melted. i run a very mild race compound carbotech pad with a stock type Stoptech (Centric) sloted rotor. like i said the boot looked melted but i suspect that is unlikely. has anyone else melted a dust boot? my only other suspicion is that the pad thickness was oversized so when i screwed in the piston so far that the boot contacted the back of the pad. i didnt damage the boot when screwing in the piston because i always check.

Yeah, they can and do melt at the track. Or they get brittle from track use and then break off. The stock brakes on our car get very hot at the track. Some use air ducting to try and reduce temps. Others look to a big brake kit. Rotors are known to crack too.

Killed my low mileage dust boots after one set of pads, running Carbotech XP8.
