Default HKS Hipermax III sports

I just bought a used set and the instruction's are in Japanese. This will be my first coilover install as well. I've done struts on a couple vehicles but not full coilovers.

1. What are the out of the box presets? Ride height, dampening ect

2. How do you adjust the ride height? Do you adjust the bottom adjuster or the top one? I'm guessing the bottom one sense they're all loose.

you're 7 months S2000 owner and still don't know to read Japanese?

anyway - as for preload i think i've read here that they need zero preload.

Do a lot of reading here, or maybe have a shop install them. That way they can corner balance the car at the same time. Start with soft settings on the shocks, and move up in small increments until the ride is firm, but not too bumpy for competition, and/or until it is to your liking.

I'll be putting these on myself. Why would I pay someone to do something like this? I just need to know how to adjust the ride height and I'm set.

there should be two collars on the bottom side of the spring. the bottom of the two locks it in place, the top of the two will stop the spring and hold the height. so turn both collars clockwise to lower the car etc, turn the bottom of the two collar back up to lock things in place.

also the trick to get to the rear driver side strut, is to open the gas cap and take out the three nuts that hold the gas tube in. pull that away from the side of the car so that you can get to the strut. good luck, nice coilovers

Thanks for the reply. But their are actually 3 "collars". One big one at the base of the spring, a smaller one right below that to lock it into place and then their's another smaller one at the bottom that isn't doing much of anything.

Is the one at the bottom to lock the bottom part of the coilover? Is the very bottom part supposed to be screwed all the way in? I was originally thinking that the very bottom collar was used for the height adjustment.

Here's a pic I found, showing the 3 collars. From what I see, the very bottom of the coilover should be screwed all the way in.

^I'm pretty sure I understand.

The lower jam nut and sleeve are the primary means of ride height adjustment and the spring perch/upper jam nut are the secondary means of height adjustment. Correct?
