Default Need help disassembling tein coilover

I'm trying to replace the springs on my Tein Comfort Sports with shorter springs from Swift. I can't get the top nut off of the strut. It just spins and spins and spins. Is there any trick to getting this off? I don't have access to an impact wrench.

If I remember correctly, I might be wrong, you need to remove the adjustment knob at the top. Stick a allen wrench into that hole and use a closed end wrench to turn the nut off.

Take a close look at the topmost portion of the threaded part of the shaft. There is a flat spot which is used to place a wrench on as you undo the nut.

Thanks. I'll give this a shot tonight. I might have a line on an impact gun I can borrow later this week if this doesn't work.

PS - I got a call back from Evasive (where I bought my Swift springs), there was a mistake about the stock of Swift springs and they don't have them. However, they did have the exact same spring from Tein for $117 cheaper! FYI to anyone looking for 65mm I.D. springs...

Don't. You can potentially damage a seal as you spin the shaft at a high rate. Not worth it...

Ok. Thanks for the heads up. I bought an open end crowfoot wrench on lunch break so I'm going to give this a try tonight.

Why not keep it simple and use a box end wrench?

It's difficult to apply force using a crowfoot wrench whilst holding the shaft steady with the other hand. If you're hard set on using a crowfoot, I recommend a flare type crowfoot to mitigate any collateral damage on the nut.

Crowfoot worked just fine. No damage to the nut. Thanks for all the help.
