Possible to replace the brake fluid reservoir only?
So, another one with this problem.
My reservoir float that controls the brake warning light has been sinking down for a couple of years now.
Previously I could just pull it up and it would stay there for quite a while.
Now it wont even stay there at all, I had to prop it up with a stick just to pass m.o.t. lol
So yeah, time to do something about it. Been searching and most old threads seem to indicate that you need to purchase the complete master cylinder to replace the reservoir.
Went looking at lingshondaparts.com and saw this:
Number 14 is: "46661S2A013 - RESERVOIR SET".
I might be stupid but I cant see why that wouldnt be exactly what I need.
Is that something new or whats the reason people were suggesting a new master cylinder? How is it mounted? Was thinking maybe it was glued or something so you couldnt do it yourself but I still dont get it since its possible to order the reservoir alone.
Any experiences with this problem and fixes for it would be appreciated.

I glanced thru the maintenance manual and found no instructions on replacing the reservoir, just the entire master cylinder which is roughly $200 to $250 (new) from various sources of OEM parts. Part 46100-S2A-A51 for my '06 car.
Honda practice is to replace all rubber parts on jobs like this so you'd probably need more than the reservoir if you could find it anyway. Some guy on Ebay thinks this used master cylinder is worth as much as a new one, but it's a good photo of the assembly.
Note the only diagram I could find does NOT list the separate parts other than the cap parts.

Thanks for your help. I looked through my manual and indeed they say you should replace the entire master cylinder. Seems pretty dumb to me I guess there is a reason for that.
A new master cylinder is $500+ here in europe. I really dont see that as an option. Then I'd probably rather just cut (or connect) the sensor wires so the light is turned off so I at least pass m.o.t. lol
If I were to get a used one to play with, did they ever change the master cylinder? Or is it same for all years?

The same up till 06+ it's different for DBW cars, or that might be the brake booster.

Part number changed in 2006. 2002 thru 2005 are the same.
Complete master cylinder is US$226.50 without even looking hard at the websites. Postage can't be another $300 to Sweden. Someone will ship it to you.

can't you alter the float system so it doesn't trigger the trouble light, seems to be a waste to replace the entire system just for a dummy light issue.
