Default Suspension Ideas?

Hi All

I am at about 55k on my s2k and i think my shocks are beginning to go. When i purchased the car the previous owner (and idiot) replaced the factory spring to lower the car and left the OEM shocks. The springs are clearly cheap and to do match the factory spring rate. The car rides very rough and is beginning to bounce. I was looking around and it seems like there isn't a huge price difference between coil-overs and factory springs - maybe like 3-4 hundred bucks. My questions is which should i go with? Personally i prefer to go OEM but having an adjustable suspension does seem very tempting. I am also concerned about tire wear (tires are expensive). If the car is lowered won't the tires wear differently due to the car sitting lower, effecting the camber of the wheels?

I should also mention that this is a daily driver so I am looking for something that isn't going to kill my back on a long driver.

I appreciate anyone's suggestions

There is a ton of information about suspension in the suspension forums. Im fairly certain all of your questions have been answered there. Personally I would upgrade to a nice set of coilovers, emphasis on UPGRADE. People seem to really like the fortune 500's on the lower end and the KW V3 on the upper end. If you are going to spend the money then you might as well upgrade it for a little more if you can. As far as additional tire wear, im pretty sure it wont be too effected as long as you arent slammed. Again, go check out the suspension forums, lots of good info there.

Just because you are lower doesn't mean you have to change your camber, unless you are so low you are rubbing fenders. If you go an inch lower you can keep stock alignment settings.

Check out the stickies...the OEM suspension is so well tuned that spending less than a few grand is going to hurt the handling rather than help it.

As it is the suspension is pretty responsive. I am not really clear on why i would need hundreds of different settings for the suspension, i am going going to tune it once right?

Fenders are rubbing but i am concerned about tire contact with the road. I can definitely see that the rear wheels are angled inwards. Also not sure how far the car was lowered but i believe it was more than an inch - there is no room between the front wheel and the outside of the wheel well

What will the Bilstein feel like compared to stock?
