Default Alternative CR Color?

I'm considering changing the color of my black CR. I was looking into gunmetal grey or matte black (done professionally of course, covering the inside engine bay, doors and trunk). There is nothing wrong with the paint, while I love the clean black look, it is too much upkeep to deal with dust and water spots (less noticeable with lighter colors). Looking for something different, but not cheesy (I put the pink in there for kicks

So I had a couple questions. Would it be considered sacrilege to do so, considering the limited numbers of CRs out there? And would it raise red flags for buyers assuming I'm trying to mask an accident/dent? Anything I can do to alleviate any concerns? (Document/video the car in good condition while it gets painted over?)

I have my own opinions but would like to hear yours thoughts (S2K owner or not). Thanks!

Honestly, I'd strongly advise against repainting. Speaking from personal experience, it's SO difficult finding a good shop that will do decent work. And a good paint job will cost A LOT of money. I've had my s2k repainted its original colour; it was done right (all trim removed, wetsanded, etc) and it cost $10k+.

Best to sell your CR and find an s2k in an easier-to-maintain color. It will honestly cost you less to do that than do a proper repaint. The colors you're contemplating won't be easier to keep up anyway, especially matte black. That is ridiculously hard to maintain. All it takes is one stain to ruin the look of the entire paint job. (When BMW produced that limited run of matte silver M3s, potential owners were required to agree to a bunch of conditions about paint maintenance. That's how finicky that type of paint is.)

And I personally wouldn't buy a newer car that had been repainted, even if I had documentation that it hadn't been in a prior accident. I just wouldn't know if the job had been done properly.

If you really don't want to sell, have you considered vinyl wrapping the car?

Wrap it. It will protect your paint and make it easy to sell when the time comes. Plus the cost is but a mere fraction of the paint.

I agree; wrap the car. You can change colors on a whim and/or go back to your original color

Personally the only way I would consider a re-paint on a CR is if it were a salvage title car with multiple missing panels.

Thanks for the feedback

Anyone with a CR here with vinyl wrap? Is there risk of the wrap ripping off the clear coat (thus damaging the paint)?

Color options are limited to BB (Black), APB (Tealish Blue), GPW (White), RY (Yellow). I'm not really a fan of any of those colors.

I bought the CR for it's stock function. (So I care about that than the color Again if I keep it as is, it's no problem, just curious what the S2Ki community thought.

Matey, if you opt for the carbon fiber look try the Di-Noc type which comes in seven colors and is superior to its competition.
