S2000 CR Club Racer Edition CR stands for "club racer," conjuring up the good old days when guys drove their sports cars to the track, raced them, and then, if the racing gods were smiling, drove them home again

Default Spark Plugs

Hello,

As I realize that the CR uses the exact same engine as non-CR s2000's I still would like to get personal opinion's from fellow CR owners.

What spark plugs do you use for your CR?
I'm currently looking to buy NGK Laser Iridium (7746).
What do you think of these and do I need to gap them?

Thanks.

Just go to Honda and buy a set specifically for the S2000.

The NGKs are generally regarded as the best. They should come pregapped, but you should check them anyway. If you go to the dealer and buy them, they'll give you the NGKs. You might as well buy them yourself and save a couple bucks.

I would go with the NGK's.
Stock Iridium replacement plug is NGK IFR7G-11KS (stock# 7746)(do not re-gap) shop around for the best price, they aren't cheap.

What mileage are you at? I just crossed 40,000 miles and I'm thinking I should replace mine.

It used to be my white S, which became a new FX50, and now it's a new Versa 6-speed LOL. I'm on the lookout for a new Vette though - you'll be hearing from me soon regarding that.

If you are going to replace them I would go one stage colder. This will reduce the chance of pre-detonation and the factory ecu will allow a bit more timing.
I have had great results using the NGK bkr8eix plugs. They say they are pre-gapped but you will have to adjust them a bit.
