Default 04 Head Unit/CD Changer Questions

I've searched up and down but I can't find what I'm looking for...

I currently have an Alpine 6-CD Changer in my 98 Civic that I plugged directly into the stock HU and it has worked great. In addition, I saw a thread where NFRs2000NYC placed the newer version (with MP3 capability) of the 6-CD changer in his secret compartment and tied it in with his stock HU.

I'm looking at purchasing a 2004 S (or a 2005 if I don't get around to it soon). I know that there is a new HU this year, and the Honda CD changer I believe is a new 8-CD changer. Personally, I'd prefer to use the newer 6-CD changer as it can be fit in the secret compartment AND it's cheaper than buying a changer throug Honda.

So here are my questions?

- Is the 2004 HU still an Alpine HU?
- Can I still plug in my current or a brand new Alpine 6-CD changer in directly (maybe with an adapter as I needed in my Civic which simply swithes a couple wires around in the plug)?

Thanks for the help,
Chris

i dont know about the CD changer but the head unit for the MY04's is a Clarion HU. There is a possibility that you lose your radio controls (located to the left of the steering wheel) if you use a diff HU and do not purchase an infrared wiring kit. good luck.

hmmmmmmmm

That complicates things... Is Honda switching to Clarion in their other models as well? It seems to me that Honda has used Alpine for ages.
