Default 07 Alpine CDA 9885

Anyone get this new headunit from Alpine yet? I'm curious to see if the DCI from modifry will work with it. I'm assuming it should be the same as the Alpine 9857...just wanted to see if there's any feedback yet on this new HU...

I installed the 9885 last week, upgrading from my (2005) 9847.

I use my iPod heavily in the S, and the 9885 and iPod connect is a huge leap forward in terms of user friendliness and speed compared to the 9847 and KCA-422i. The speed is instantaneous amd the searchinga and scrolling is a lot faster, plus it has Alpine's percentage skipping feature which helps me get through a 10,000 song playlist easier, with the 9847 it was impossible.

Likes include the 4V pre outs - the sound seems cleaner and louder, but I have to retune my amp still to really see. The display is a big improvement, and the HU works with my 2005 Modifry IR DCI, another plus.

Also, unlike the 9847, where every time I started the car I had to reselect "mix songs" - a two button process slowed by the older programming delays - the 9885 keeps your mix settings and selected playlist even when you shut he car off. No more lengthy settings resets each tme you turn the car on - another huge time and convenience saver.

Dislikes include the illumination colors - ruby red or indigo blue - the red just doesn't look good in the S and I actually kept the illum blue, but orange would be preferred.

Fwiw, I chose the 9885 over the pure iPod (no CD) HU because I think it has better features and abilities.
