Default 2 questions regarding Kappa Perfect 6.1s

I finally broke down and picked up a set of Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.1s. I also have some RAAMmat to go with it. The full install is coming this weekend.

In the meantime, I've started gathering everything I need, and yesterday I went ahead and cut the baskets from my factory speaker holders. Here are my two questions:

1) Now that the factory bracket has no rain guard, do I need something behind the new woofers? I'm thinking something like the foam basket things, but the local audio shop says they are a waste of time.

2) The fancy clear plastic cover on the crossovers seem like they would rattle. Do I leave the covers on them or take the covers off? (I'm going to mount the x-overs in the door cavity)

Now I have to come up with a way to mount a second amp!

You can get a set of XTC foam baffles, but cut a small slit the size of your little finger in the bottom so the speakers can breath. As for the crossovers, I don't like leaving in the door, but if you really feel you must, leave the covers on. Mount the x-over in the spacer bucket in the door. You'll need some velcro for that.

I was just thinking mounting them in the door would keep the wire runs down a bit. Is there a more recommended place to put the crossovers?

I always put them inside the car. Its safer for them and if you want to adjust the sound you don't need to take the door panel off
