Default 2001 Stock Radio Question

I thought, and still think, there was no way to turn off the stock radio from any of the control buttons next to the steering wheel. A friend of mine, however, told me that you can do that on some cars. Does anyone know more about this?

I did a search and couldn't find anything about it.

Thanks.

Why would you want to turn it off??? There's a mute button there that works when you need to mute the sound.

I do this On/off (power button) conversion for 00-01 radio with my rear speaker harness (version b) to address the lack of rear mute (radio only mutes the fronts). The benefit of having the button turn off and on the radio is that you pause the CD your playing at the same time.

2002 radios do a full mute so I build a less expensive harness without the seperate circuit for those radios.
