2006 rear speaker wire
I just got my s a couple of days ago and plans to install the rear speaker system from lucid. Does anyone know if there are speaker wires behind the panel and do I need to run them in myself.
Thanks!
Thanks!
If you have a 2005 as indicated in your owner info, there are no wires there. The wires for the rear channels are just small leads coming off of the radio connector (it is above your right knee) and you will need to run wiring. If you do a search, you may find out which one is which. I'll leave that up to you as I haven't got time at the moment.
If you have a 2006 as indicated in your question, then you already have rear speakers in the roll hoops and consequently obviously have wiring to the rear. The rear roll hoop speakers for 2006 are 2 ea right and left 8 ohm speakers wired in parallel for 4 ohms (at least from what I have read here). Anyway, if this is the scenario, then do you plan to disconnect these roll hoop speakers? If not, you will not be able to run extra speakers in parallel with them as the head unit won't be able to drive that low of an impedance.

You can add in the Lucid speakers without an AMP and keep them if you switch to the Alpine later. If you specify that you are ordering for an OEM system when you order the Lucid speakers (extra $50) they supply the necessary rear speaker harness with full instructions on how to run the wires and get the system up.
I did so and later on switched out the OEM HU for an Alpine 9851 and the rear speakers still worked just fine. I did this without an amp to begin with while running the OEM front speakers, but my system has changed a lot since then.
