4x oem alarm/keyless range.
Hmmm. Dealer told me I had the OEM alarm but when the seat was out for the stereo install there was nothing under there but a plug for the airbag sensor.
Do I not have the alarm after all?
Do I not have the alarm after all?
general question: how does the OEM alarm system work in conjunction with the keyless entry module that is stock in each car?
im asking because the keyless entry module has its own internal antenna. why would the alarm module have an antenna?
and wouldnt then for those of us who dont have an OEM alarm just extend the antenna in the keyless entry module? i had considered this, and wondered if it would be effective, thinking that maybe the length of the antenna is preset to match the RF signal. changing it drastically would change its ability to receive. althogh, im sure its an easy thing to check.... (except its a real pain to unbolt and reinstall, that 1 10mm bolt is a huge pain...)

just did this last night with the spare 12 gauge speaker wires, about 30 feet, i loop it under the seat, thru the side and up to the firewall.
it works great
wait, what is this autolocking thing you mentioned? If by autolocking, you mean that if I walk away from my car without locking it, that it can be set to automatically lock itself after a time, then I didn't even know this feature was there. Can you confirm if this is what you meant, and if so, how do you set it to on, is it a switch or button? I've been wanting this feature for ages just for peace of mind, so if this works, it would be awesome! Also, pics would be great too if you have any.

If you unlock the doors but then decide not to go open them up, the doors will automatically re-lock after a timeout period has expired.
Sometimes I love it, sometimes I hate it. I will unlock and then get sidetracked for a second, then when I finally make it to the car it's locked and I need to unlock again.

It don't think it replace it completely, i can trigger my oem alarm with the alarm fob but i can still unlock, lock my door with oem keyless entry fob.
if thats the case, then yeah, that makes sense.

As for the keys being different in response to another poster, I believe they are. The ones without the alarm has a different design and comes with two keys and a valet key, if you get the OEM alarm, you only get one key and a valet key from my understanding.
[QUOTE=neoarroyo,Aug 30 2007, 10:00 AM] Oh okay, I knew about that feature...which is not really that useful, now if it would lock the car for me, after I get out and close the door after a set period of time, that would be what I was hoping for.

does the OEM alarm have a different remote fob than the regular OEM keyless entry fob?
if thats the case, then yeah, that makes sense.
