6-disc In-dash CD Changer/Receiver
I just bought my S a week ago. I'm already missing my Bose system from my 01' CL-S (that is the only thing cause this S is AMAZING!). The stock unit is weak and I have a hard time hearing the tunes with the top down. What I really miss is the 6-disc in-dash CD player.
My question(s) is if anybody has installed a 6-disc in-dash CD player? I have found the Nakamichi MB-75 (http://www.nakamichi.com/auto/musicbank/mb_75.htm) which runs around $599 and Pioneer has one called the Premier CDX-PD6 (https://www.pioneerelectronics.com/Pioneer/...429,713,00.html) for $495. Has anyone found any other manufactures that make a 6-disc in-dash CD player for sale to the public? Bose makes them, but you can not buy just the head unit.
Also with out adding an amp, would the 40watts x 4 on the Nakamichi MB-75 be enough to add on new door speakers to stop the clipping at high volume?
Thanks for your help!

I don't know about 6, but I know Alpine makes a 3 disc indash that would fit the s. The 40x4 would be enough to power better door speakers. You should consider one of the rear speaker options for better sound either the rear panel speakers or the new speaker pods. There are also subs for the trunk available.
Thanks s2000raj for your advice. I've looked on the Alpine web site, but I have yet to find this CD player. Myer-Emco even has it on their web site so I know it exists. I have put some thought in getting new door speakers and moving the stocks to the rear, but doesn't the seat placement restrict the sound? I'm not looking to drop a sub in the trunk (need all the space I can get) or to even blow people out of the water, I just want a decent system that I can hear over wind noise that's not going to clip at high volume.
Thanks again for your help! Guess I'll have to take a trip up to Myer-Emco!

Alot of owners here have the behind the seat ones. They all sound good, none sounded muffled that i heard and were clear even at highway speeds. A local s2000 owner has recently developed speaker pods which mount in the roll loops, have a finished look and sound great.
Here's a link to those. Speaker pods

I put a Nak MB-75 in my wife's GS-R when that model first came out and it was a piece of junk. It constantly jammed up, only the reset button would bring it back to life. I ditched it for an Eclipse in dash 6 disc and after four years the Eclipse still works perfectly.
Also- you could just get a deck that plays MP3's or WMA files. I can get eight or ten complete albums on one CD-R. The sound quality is not the same but it's tolerable, and you don't have to leave your CDs in the car where they get scratched, stolen, etc.

Thanks for the info s2000raj! Do you think if I put in the speakers behind the seats I will need to buy an amp? Those speaker pods are pretty cool. Thanks for the links.
Karl O. thanks for the advice on the MB-75. I would be a little nervous buying from a company I know little about and have only heard bad things. Do you know what the model # is of the Eclipse? I looked on their web site for the 6 disc in-dash cd player, but I didn't see it on there...
I like the idea of having the MP3 option, but I have a lot of cd's. To me it doesn't make sense to rip all my cd's just to then listen to them in my car. I have a huge MP3 collection at work, but it's not close to my actual cd collection. Besides most of the head units today are MP3/WMA/WAV compatible.

As far as speakers behind seats, you don't need an amp if you have an amplified head unit, IMO. You could ask Lucid (the behind the seat inventor who is a board sponsor and makes and sells all the parts for doing the mod) or Mark (the maker of the speaker pod) or Neil (aka rolling audio) who has installed both.
They have much more experience than I do.

jstar- you're right, it looks like Eclipse doesn't list that model on their website anymore, but they just changed a bunch of their models so the new model might not be out yet, or it could have been discontinued. You might find one at an Eclipse dealer, I can give you a phone number of an Eclipse store that one of my buddies owns, he still might have one in stock, he had them marked down from $800 to $500 a while back.
You could try an indash CD with a changer under the driver's seat- lots of people here have put smaller six disc changers there with no problem.
Nak could have fixed the problem with the MB-75 by now but there is no way in hell I will ever buy another Nak product.
