adding to Dave's comments...

the GOOD shops should charge you by the job, and NOT by the hour. in no way whatsoever should you EVER pay for someone else's inexperience. any shop charging you by the hour is setting you up for an arse reaming...

i don't know about where you guys live, but down here, if you see a big heavy duty pickup rolling slow on the interstate w/ a big job box in the back? chances are it's a public services worker on his way to a job... being paid hourly the whole time he cruises at 45 mph... (our tax dollars hard at work)

Just a question out of curiosity: from the point of view of an experienced installer, is Jim's amp rack the only way to go? I ask because the option of WLAURENT's enclosure really means it isn't necessary to give up the tool well area, and if the amp could be mounted elsewhere then the space tire could remain. Are any of the mounting alternatives worth pursuing if you are using WLAURENT's box?
I run a JL 500/1 on the wall behind the passenger seat (heatsink fins up). You loose about 1" of leg room - but my wife is only 5' 7" or so = no problem.

You could do the same with a JL 300/4, but you would only get about 150Wrms to a 4 ohm sub (bridge the rear channels).

You can also mount the amp on the wall of the trunk next to the spare tire hump

Thanks WLAURENT. Yeah, I knew you can mount an amp there, its the solution I would probably choose, but I was still curious why Dave almost treated the amp rack as a given. Does the size limitation mean alot of amps won't fit? Seems like with the interest there seems to be in your side mounted sub solution most people would want to go ahead and keep the tire.

Can I get a link to Jim's amp rack? I've been out of the loop and am a bit of a newbie

I said amp rack because its a great place to keep your amp. I am a VERY firm believer that the s2000 spare is useless, so as far as I am concerned, its not even there. If you really want to keep your spare, then yes, you can mount the amp to the left of the spare tire bulge, but I dont think its as neat, and you still have to put wood backing over there to screw the amp in.

Can you list the exact equipment thats going in???

I don't have an exact list of anything yet, as I have not bought anything.

I am thinking of the

Alpine 9851
Boston Acoustic Pro60s or Infinity Kappa perfects.
the DCI
Amp, i don't know. It all depends on if i buy WLaurent's sub box or not. If so i guess i heed a 4ch with a bridged output of 300WRMS. If i don't then i guess i only need a 2ch 80/100/125 WRMS.

Oh and NFRs2000NYC you have PM.
