about to install full Alpine system on Tues...any advice?
Smart move BlackS2000. How much were the Alpine speakers? You can get Focals for about $500 from Concept Audio on 32nd Ave. The retail is much higher but they can be talked down.
I figured that the Alpine MRV-T320 2/1 Channel Power Amp would power the front components:
MAX Power (at 14.4V,EIAJ)
Bridged 4 ohms : 400W x 1
Per channel into 4 ohms : 140W x 2
RMS Power (at 12V,20Hz-200Hz)
Bridged 4 ohms : 160W x 1
Per channel into 2 ohms : 80W x 2
Per channel into 4 ohms : 50W x 2
RMS Power (at 12V,20Hz-20kHz)
Bridged 4 ohms : 150W x 1 (0.3% THD)
Per channel into 2 ohms : 75W x 2 (0.3% THD)
Per channel into 4 ohms : 40W x 2 (0.08% THD)
RMS Power (at 14.4V,20Hz-200Hz)
Bridged 4 ohms : 220W x 1
Per channel into 2 ohms : 110W x 2
Per channel into 4 ohms : 80W x 2
RMS Power (at 14.4V,20Hz-20kHz)
Bridged 4 ohms : 200W x 2 (0.3% THD)
Per channel into 2 ohms : 100W x 2 (0.3% THD)
Per channel into 4 ohms : 60W x 2 (0.08% THD)
Looks like MB Quart or Focal. Focal's if the price is about $500. If I need to go up in amp power ... somebody please let me know
. I will worry about the rear speakers later. (4 channel amp???
decisions,decisions)
So, shopping for components tomorrow morning and 11:30 the install begins.
Thanks again for the help...I really do appreciate it, and want to get it done right the first time.

Well the car is in the shop and will be out tomorrow.
Installed parts:
Alpine 7995 head unit
Alpine V12 MRD-M300 mono amp
Alpine MRV-T320 2/1 Channel Power Amp
Alpine Type R 10 " sub (I have built an MDF box)
Focal 130V components
Alpine SEC-150R alarm
I'll let you all know how it sounds. I will post a picture of my custom built subwoofer box later as well.

The stereo is complete, here are my comments on my system after testing it all night:
Distortion: Absolutely None
Highest Volume: Stopped at number 33
Driving with top down: With stereo at volume #25+, I can here my music and nothing else...the base does get washed out a bit as it is being sent behind my car when driving
Comments: Had to get used to how loud the base is. It actually gave me a bit of a head ache but later in the evening no problems. The Focal's are excellent, powerful and clean. Overall I am happy with the system because I can't find any weakness is performance. Will be comparing against a S2000 system with rear speakers to see if they help. The alarm works great too.
I actually feel like my car is a lot meaner. This evening a guy pulled up beside me in an older Acura Integra pumpin his heavy metal with a terrible system...I usually turn my radio down at stops, so I heard his music for about 30 seconds and then s l o w l y turned up my volume...hehe all he could hear was my music.
He takes off in front of me and I fly past him...end of that. Now my car is not only faster than most cars, it is also louder too.
Thanks for your help guys!

Changed from 5.25" Focal 130 V to 6.5" Focal 165 V
I initally made the wrong purchase because the Focal salesman told me that the 6.5" woofer would not fit. It will fit if you use a 3/4" spacer. I was lucky they exchanged the 130 V even after it was intalled. The sound difference is night and day. I have found through my dealings that there aren't too many people that are knowledgable on the S2000 and stereo installations.
I will post pics on my install as soon as I get my automotive carpet to finish the trunk off.
My system is set up right now and I have zero regrets with the purchases I have made. The system POUNDS! I am not even considering rear speakers at all.
