Default Advice on Amps!

I haven't had any experience with cheap amps and would appreciate any advice people have.

I am going to install a JL Audio 12W6 (needs 250-300 RMS) for a sub and MB Quart PSD 216 speakers (needs 60-130 RMS).

The sub I already have, the speakers I am almost sure about although people seem to like the focals.

Regardless I want a cheap amp and I am looking at the US Acoustics USX4085 (85 x 4, 240 x 2) for $190 or Autotek SS600.4 (100 x 4, 300 x 2) for $220.

Any opinions on these? I am worried about not getting enough power to the 12W6 and might spend extra cash on RockFosgate but at 2.5 x the price might be stupid.

I have a lot of McIntosh stuff in my other car and love it but I don't ever wanna spend $4000 on an amp again.

Forgot to ask.

Since the sub will be wired to 3 ohms, 240 RMS should be more since it is at 4 ohms. Correct?

Autotek 600.4 is one I would avoid. I ran this very same model. I dislike the termals and i HATE the recessed adjustments for input sensitivity.

Better is the autotek 750.1 (which i AM using now) a little more but a class D amp. It runs cool, its small and it's terminals are easy to nut a 4 gauge wire to.

What I look for in any amp is the terminals and controls. You need to tweak to match your deck. Also being able to plug and nut the wire to the term saves you $ and labor to get a proper connector (dont need it).

I have mine running at full cap and after 2 hours of music it not hot. Class Ds are meant for subs only this works in the 20-200hz range. Much more efficent than a A/B amp which wastes most of its power to heat. I run mine at 2ohms.

I think you'd be better off going with the J/L 300/1. Not exactly cheap, but NOWHERE near $4,000. It's generally in the neighborhood of $300. Not too bad considering you'll get amazing sound quality, class d power, 250 watts NO MATTER WHAT impedence you run (1.5-4 ohms), all in a small size. It's a perfect match, think about it.
