Default Alarm Installation

I need to add an alarm to the S, How difficult is it to install?

I was thinking the viper 5900, with paging maybe a motion sensor.

I have a stand alone ecu (AEM EMS) so I need to add an ignition kill also.

Any thoughts?

All honda's are easy, this one is a little more difficult because of the door locks, but really its not too hard..

What's different about the door locks?

How do I know what wire to tap into? Does the alarm come with a wiring diagram for a S2000?

I see you live in Modesto. I was born in Modesto, my dad still lives there.

The issue with Viper, if I read correctly, is the warranty is only honored if an authorized installer is used. Means perhaps a Clifford Matrix 12.5x instead of Viper 5900 (if I did it myself). The guts are both DEI anyway. They sell nearly-the-same alarms under a huge number of brands!

the door locks are a 5 wire system. its not that much harder, instead of wiring only 2 wires for the locks you wire (you guessed it) 5 wires. now there are some people that will use the 2 wire system, they wire it into 2 blank slots on a wire connector, i havent tried that yet because i always do the 5 wire system on the s2000.

youll get a diagram for the alarm with the alarm you purchase but not for the car, you can easily find diagrams online for the s2000 as well.

btw i have a viper 791xv for sale, its the EXACT same as the 5900. but the 5900 has the sst technology therefore it has a 1 mile range, mine is a 1/4 mile range. the 1 mile range is nice to have but the odds of you actually getting the 1 mile to work is slim, its 1 mile in open air, not around buildings like in the city.

If I install it lose warranty?

Why would you go with Clifford Matrix 12.5x instead of Viper 5900?

unfortunately you do lose the warranty theft guarantee, when you make a claim on your vehicle they will ask for the receipt to an authorized installer that installed the alarm, if you are unable to provide that, your claim is denied.

viper and clifford are the same thing

look up the matrix and the 5900, if you find a difference besides the name and how it looks, let me know

The 2-wire lock hookup isn't that hard. You're going to be stuck under the dash for a while anyway so you might as well connect to the keyless module and not have to do the other 3 wires.

There is some info on the 2-wire hookup on my web site here. Look in the section "Here's 2 more ways to unlock the passenger door".

Let us know if you find a real difference between the units I mentioned. To me, that warranty is important.

The locks actually require two five wire modules if you dont use that two wire method..
Also there right about DEI voiding your warrenty if you dont have a pro install it.
But im a mecp professional and had no problems with them so far.. not to brag any lol
