Alarmed Tax Disk Holder
Hi,
Has anyone else got an alarmed Tax Disk Holder?
I've just replaced the standard stick-on plastic one for a fancy shiny Richbrook aluminium one, but the old one appears to be wired into the car.
I'm not quite bold enough to cut the wires and find out what happens! Nor do I really want to look a tw*t asking the Honda dealer to do it unless I really have to!!
Any advice?

I don't know what that is. I assume it's a UK thing -- if so, the UK forum may give you better answers. With a search I saw that Lurking Lawyer lists one in his sig. Here's the URL to PM him:

Edit: he lists the Richbrook one, not necessarily an alarmed one.

It was killing me too, so I did some poking around. Definitely a UK thing. Apparently they do not change their plates but must periodically purchase a displayable document that shows they have paid their vehicle tax. Different rates for different classed of vehicles, displacements, etc. Just like us when we used to get new plates every year or like now when we need to get stickers every year.
From what I saw, the document has always been round (tradition?) hence the term: tax disc.
It appears that the document can be displayed in the window but there appear to be a whole array of bolt on holders to enclose and display the tax disc.
By alarmed, I assume he means that he unbolted his plastic one and it had wires attached. Perhaps so it sets off an alarm if someone tries to steal it?
