Default all they took was the radar detector

just last night some thieves broke into my s2k. keep in mind i have over a thousand dollars in stereo equipment in the car. well, when they broke the window out, it shattered all over the car wrecking almost every plastic panel inside. it also tore the leather seats and went down inside the defogg vents. had it have been any other car the majority of the glass would have been on the seat, but since it is so small of an interior, it looked like a m69 fragmentation grenade went off in there. well, what really chapps my ass is that they did all that damage over a three hunded dollar radar detector. why didnt they steal the stereo, why didnt they pop the trunk and steal the amp or sub, whey didnt they steal the book of thirty cd's. i am really pissed off that i have to pay a five hundred dollar deductable to pay for my car to get fixed over a freakin radar detector. word to the wise, dont leave out anything easy. because i think that the fold down lid confused them and deterred them from taking the stereo. i just wanted to share my story and also wanted to know if anything like this has happened to anyone else.

Sorry for your loss...there are always a few assholes out there willing to cut corners if it gets them what THEY want.

I'm a bit confused, though...you said the shattered glass ripped the seats and scratched almost all of the panels? And they didn't take ay stereo equipment? It sounds more like vandalism, or someone making a point. Someone breaking a window is NOT going to tear the seat, and it DEFINITELY is not going to scratch panels...but those things could happen if someone did it on purpose.

If I saw what you're describing, and they only took the radar detector, I would be looking very hard at any enemies I may have made recently.

I feel for you. The same thing happened to me this week. The only thing was they broke into my beater (97 Accord) and not my S. Those thiefs stole my Sony HU and left everything else in the car.

Good luck getting your S repaired.

Sorry to hear this man!

First, make sure to get the glass pieces out of the vents and even afterwards drive with a set of glasses (sun or whatever) for a while. My passenger side window got shattered in an accident and those pieces of glass kept coming out the vents for weeks even after being professionally vacumed. Lucky for me I had a eye allergy at the time that forced me to wear my glasses otherwise ....

Second, my car also got broken into once. They forced open the trunk latch and stole an amp, leaving behind an sub and a CD changer. I think they just had to dash for some reason cause they had already cut all the wires, all they had to do was pick up stuff.

the seats weren't cut on purpose. there are pieces of the window stuck in them like fragmentation. i thought about any recent enemies like you said but the police said that the same thing happened in the area with a lot of other cars the night before. like you said it sounds like just vandalism rather than someone trying to steal equipment. but all of the damage came from the ten pound boulder they threw through the window. the rock went through the passenger window so hard that you could see where it hit the steering wheel and scuffed the leather also. my guess is a couple of rookies who dont know how to steal stuff without trashing a car or that dont know that you can actually buy tools that will spyder web a window so that you can just stick your hand trough.

Oh, well if they threw a huge boulder, THAT would scratch the plastic and push the glass into the seat...you forgot to mention that part.
