Which Alpine?

I've always been a fan of the old skool alpines, the ones that have green LEDs that don't look like a cheap handheld "video" game from 1983, that is, you can't see all the LEDs that are off in the background...
I bit the bullet and went ahead and bought a 9833 with the Ipod controller. If the 05's have a better Ipod controller, then maybe I'll upgrade. I just want several gig of music stashed away and not have to worry about storing a bunch of CDs. We'll see how it goes once I get it all installed.
Now time to think about some components....
I know I'm drudging this up a little late (and I didn't read through the posts), but I wanted to warn people against the Alpine CDA-9830.....I owned it for about 2 days and after numerous problems and complications decided to upgrade to the 9831 (what a great move that was
).
The 9830 is sooooo complicated. On top of that, it kept cutting out my front speakers - no idea why, it just would - and there was no rhyme or reason to it. The shop that I bought it from told me I was the third person to buy the 9830 and the third person to return it. One other person had the same issues with the High Pass going out. The first person couldn't understand how to work the damn thing. Needless to say this shop will not recommend the 9830 anymore.
I am a very happy 9831/KCA owner now
- And I'm so happy to not use the FM Modulator for the iPod anymore!
As for the rest of your setup - I had the Boston's, but got better sound quality out of pairing Infinity (for $ purposes at the time) and MB Quarts. If you have the money to do it, get the best MB Quart series components you can.
I'm a huge JL fan for the rest.

Kacee,
I did not have to cut the speaker baskets, you have to remove them. So u can put them back once you sell the vehicle. No clearance issues with the door panel and window as long as you make the adapter out of 3/4 inch mdf. Let me know if you need some help, PM me.
I am still undecided between a 10 inch alphasonik with custom made box for tool well, or a ED 10k in a wlaurent enclosure.
