Default Which Alpine?

SPG or SPR??

http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/alpine-spg-17c2.html

OR

http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/alpine-spr-17c.html

Can there be that much difference in-between the two Alpine speaker ranges?? I won't be doing too much else to the system, maybe install a small amplifier, add some rear speakers and a HUGE maybe on whether or not to install a small 10" or 12" subwoofer... but i'm not going power crazy... as want to keep the weight as low down as possible..

Thanks for the help...

Bot of those are coaxials, correct for an MY00

But, if you're adding an amp and sub, then I'd recommend getting some newer door cards and the component version of the SPRs. http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/alpine-spr-17s.html More money, but so much better.

You could try these, if budget is limited http://www.sextonsdirect.co.uk/car_speaker...71A.html?cat=44

or even these http://www.sextonsdirect.co.uk/car_speaker...7CS.html?cat=44

I've heard the SPRs and they are very good value.

I used to have a set of components in my last car, but there were no placement for the tweeters to go... and tbh it was a pain in the ass to install them...

I was thinking co-axials at the front... then if the sound isn't good maybe get a set of components and install them at the rear perhaps??

How are the free-air subwoofers too btw??

It's far easier (and probably cheaper) to change the door cards to a later year which'll give you an easy install for components than it is to fit speakers in the rear.

You'll also get a better image from your sound system if you do that, rather than some sort of muted sound from behind the seat.

See here for some good pics on how easy it is to install components and their crossovers in the doors with the MY02 onwards door cards. https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showt...&#entry17270947

See my sig for a nice clean subwoofer install.
