Default Alpine 7875/PAC incompatibility question

Here is a question for the experts or anyone that has installed an Alpine 7875. I was at the PAC site looking at some of the bulletins...ran across this notice:

Products currently not supported: Sony products that use the wireless rotary commander, RM-X112 and RM-X110 (possibly RM-X115) remotes. CDXM770, CDXM620, CDXM670, CDXCA850X and CDXCA860X headunits. Alpine CDA-7875 or any headunit that uses the RUE-4187 remote.

Any idea what the problem is? Anyone tried a PAC unit with the 7875? Would the older SWI-3 work?

could be IF carrier frequency range. PAC states it must be 38khz to 40khz. They say on some alpine decks you can remove the eye and replace it with a mono 1/8" stereo plug for hardwiring the unit.

Check with Pinky. Pinky's Mod page quotes:

"I have redesigned the mod to overcome that. I have been asked this many times so it bears repeating: It will work with ANY infrared remote."

Drop him a message. I guess he found a way around it or at least can walk you through the process wiring it up.

Has anyone been able to confirm this in practice?

Thanks,

I don't think the redesigned part was taken in context.

I've never seen your redesigned unit and putting an month of R&D into it I thought you might have reworked the internals.

OK now for my confusion...does the SWI-x work?....mute lead problem? Anyone with a 7875 install to verify PAC functionality?

lucid: What do you mean by---"They say on some alpine decks you can remove the eye and replace it with a mono 1/8" stereo plug for hardwiring the unit."

What decks, how do you do this, can you replace with an 1/8" plug for the KCE-euro hardwire solution? I have never heard of this....can you please elaborate.

I recently had a local shop(Ovation) install an Alpine CDA-7875 along with the PAC-SWI-X and everything works perfectly. The mute and all work great. I am not sure how they did it but they said they did not run into any problems. Hope this helps.
