Thumbs up Alpine 9827 and MX mode...

Before I installed my sub, using Alpine's MX (Media Expander) mode on my head unit seemed to help out quite a bit. Now that I have a sub installed, my opinion is completely reversed. With it enabled, the highs are WAY too bright and it sounds like a severe bass boost is enabled. Turning it off gives a much more realistic and smooth response.

What exactly is MX doing? Does anybody with a sub installed use it?

I've kept it off with and without subs. It seems to just raise high and low frequencies while leaving the midrange low. I guess it just depends on what you are listening to.

I use it the same way. It depends upon the music that I'm listening too.

I look at it as a "LOUDNESS" button like the old decks used to have. When I keep the volume low it brightens up tones that I would not otherwise hear.
