Default Alpine 9850r1 - which cable do I need for controls

I've bought an Alpine 9850ri head unit so I can use my ipod in the car. I was planning on buying the ALPINE-KCE-865B dash contol kit. Alpine (direct) have said they can't guarantee that the mute button will work with this kit. However I assume it was designed on an early car so it has a high likelihood of working on my MY00 car.

Incartec also have a cable which is a lot cheaper that was designed on a MY01 car. However they say the mute button won't work

There's also countdown who can't respond as the guy is away for a week.

Can anyone tell me which cable to buy? All I want is all the functions.

Cheers

Neil

I am using the one made by the guy at Countdown Enterprises for my 9850. I can't be sure, but I think he is using the Incartec parts in the first place. The 'mute' function is more a 'quieten' function rather than killing the sound completely. When I contacted Alpine UK they said the telephone interrupt cable from the head unit needed to be used in wiring to the dash control interface rather than the head unit's 'mute' cable. The telephone interrupt function would also pause the CD as well as mute the volume.

However I am happy enough with just the quieten function as it drops the volume plenty and prefer the ease of just plugging the Countdown stuff in between the Honda loom and the Alpine loom from the back of the head unit.

You will get a slight delay between button release and the chosen function kicking in compared to the OEM setup which I found instaneous but is fine by me as I prefer the benefits of the Alpine (with the iPod connection).
