Default Alpine CDA-9857 vs. Alpine DVA-9861

If anyone can chime in on this, please do...

I'm looking to buy an aftermarket CD player for my s2k...obviously the DVA-9861 plays DVD's (if I had a screen), but is it really worth the extra cost if I'm not planning on using the DVD option? I'm guessing not, but thought I'd ask anyways. I do plan on adding the modifry dci, ipod connector, and possibly the bluetooth. I believe the CDA-9857 does all of this as well, so it seems to be a no brainer to me. Only thing I noticed is that the display font size is larger on the 9861 compared to the 9857. maybe I'm wrong?

No. A stand alone DVD player (I have one) is about 120 bucks. On top of which, you dont have a screen. If it played DVD audio, thats one thing, but it doesnt. Its a huge waste of money for you.

I wanted a DVD tuner for my S2k simply for the number of MP3s I could get onto a 4GB DVD. But went with the 9857 for the biolite display alone... couldn't stand the display on my other Alpine HU.
