i have an opportunity to upgrade my head unit and would like to go with alpine because i've heard lots of good things. i can get the 147 or the 149 for decent prices, but i'm not sure what major advantages i would have with the 149 over the 147. also, I have read in some reviews that the iPod hook up can be funny because it will default to your iTunes play list if you're not using pandora.

has anyone got either one of these units and can chime in on their experience? much appreciated.

 

No experience with either. I went with the 148bt for a few reasons.

- HD radio
- rear USB
- full access to CD slot

The 147 doesn't have HD radio and I believe the USB is in the front. The 149 would have been great but I don't like the folding down the face feature to change CDs. The bigger screen doesn't justify the extra cost since I always keep the door closed.

I also bad luck with the folding faces before. Whatever you decide, its just features and not power specs. I could be wrong though so double check specs.

thanks. I ended up going with the 143 because of the price. it's a front facing USB which i don't really mind too much, and it sounds great.
