Default Need help srs off

Hey everyone looking for some help. I've been searching but every body who has a problem with the srs system, is that the srs won't turn off . Mine is that the srs light won't turn on. I've checked the fuses and the system and its all new, seatbelts are detected. Anybody have any suggestions? I have to take it to chp just to have that checked. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanx in advance.

Ok, the SRS light being on indicates there is a problem or malfunction with the SRS system and the airbags will NOT deploy. Why do you want to see the light on?? lol

You can turn the key two clicks to accessory and see if it lights up on the dash with the engine off.

That's exactly the problem. It needs to blink like two times before you turn on the car but the srs on the dash doesn't even blink , it's completely off the whole time. The DMV won't allow me to finish registering the car until I fix that srs problem and take it to chp for show and tell.

REALLY? DMV for which state? I have my inspectors license here in NC and that is not part of the inspection. Thats wild.. Possibly the previous owner had an accident and removed the bulb behind the cluster. Do you have any friends that are technicians with scan tools? Id have them take a look into the SRS module to see if there is communication or any stored codes.

For the state of California. Yeah I bought the car with a salvage title but it runs/drives straight. I'll check the cluster today, hopefully that's it. It so happens that I do have a friend that is a technician , I'll see if I can squeeze in his shop. Thanx Blaq&Grey, I didn't expect a reply so quickly.

It's an 02 it's a salvage title and airbags were replaced and I reinstalled the tentioners and everything looks good but srs still stays on. Is there some kind of computer system I have to hook up to it to delete/reset? If so how do I go about it. I read the ecu code and it gave me 10 long and one short at the end I looked it up and was the tesioner so I reinstalled and try to reset to no avail. Any suggestions?

You need a true Scan Tool not a code reader, to plug into the OBD II port and access the SRS Module. There you are able to reset the memory. There might also be a relearn procedure.

The vehicle was in an accident everything was replaced. Does this mean it will just be a reset? How does a relearn procedure work?
Sorry I'm new to this. Thanx for the help.
