alpine h.u.+ dci install
just purchased a modifry dci with harness to gain dash controls with my alpine cda-7875. i thought i had all the wiring correct but that is not the case since my head unit will not power on. read the instructions carefully a couple of times so i thought i might enlist some help. this is now the way i have it wired: alpine hareness red lead=modifry harness red and dci red(all 3 soldered together), alpine pink/blk taped off, alpine orange=modifry orange, alpine gray taped off.alpine gray/blk taped off,alpine white taped off,alpine white/blk taped off,alpine blk=modifry blk,alpine blue=modifry blue,alpine blue/white=lead to amps,alpine purple taped off,modifry purple=dci purple,alpine purple/blk taped off, alpine green taped off,modifry green=dci green,alpine green/blk taped off,alpine yellow taped off, modifry yellow taped off. any help with where i went wrong would be appreciated. i plan on running the speakers and sub off of amps so speaker wires and power wire to battery are not wired. thanks, jim
and power wire to battery are not wired.
um, that could be your problem. the fused yellow wire needs hooked to power, be it from the harness or from the battery. since it sounds like you intend to turn off the internal amp, you should be ok for harness power.
i just rewired an alpine harness last night (different car though) and something seems off...
pink = atten/mute - hook to mute out of dci
yellow fused = power - battery or harness constant 12V
orange = illumination (?) = harness
gray,purple,green,white sets = speakers - terminate
blue stripe= remote turn on = to amp
blue = power antenna turn on = terminate
red = car 12v turn on (?) = harness & dci 12v in
black = ground = harness ground & dci ground
there should also be 2 wires on the harness that only go to the dci, the mute and dash control wires. don't know colors of those. they do not hood to the alpine harness.
I'll try to remember to double check my harness when i get home, but i think i got em all.
***ok, checked, got blue wires switched, everything else fine****

so you think if i just solder the two yellow wires together everything should be ok?i didn't think that i needed to do that. i was thinking that the red 12v power wires would supply all the power i needed since i wasn't going to use the internal amp. HEY you live just down the road. L.P. city? Don't see too many of our cars around. maybe i'll see you around. thanks jim
yes, you just need to connect the yellow. red is only the turn on from the ignition, 12v but low power. yellow is the actual constant power that the radio runs off of. also the power feed the radio draws on when off to keep the clock & memory going.
yes, i live down in st mary's lexington park. only seen a few s2ks down here,mostly silver, one blue. I'm the only black i've seen around here, and I can't drive it yet. gotta get plates.
