Default Alpine wired DCI

I just got a new alpine head unit (9855) and wanted to wire the controls by the steering wheel to work. I looked around and found out that the new Modifry wired DCI will work. I definitely want a wired DCI opposed to a IR one. Does anyone have any experience good or bad with the Modifry wired DCIs and the new alpine units? Do I need/should I get the harness adapter that is available for purchase with it? Are there any other wired DCIs that will work for the Alpines? Thanks for the help.

I am also interested in this topic, because I am going to be purchasing an Alpine 9855 head unit and the modifry wired DCI as well in the very near future.

Thanks

Hi guys

Although i live in the uk i have installed an Alpine 9855 HU with a Modifry DCI and connected the speed control wire. It works perfectly and gives me extra functions that the origianal dash controls did not have !

Hope this reassures you

RST,

I am looking to do the same and have the same question as AZRX asked above, "Do I need/should I get the harness adapter that is available for purchase with it?" Did you use the harness adapter?

I ended up just buying the Modifry wired DCI and harness since it sounds like everyone that has it is happy. Hopefully I will install it this weekend if it gets here in time. Once its in I'll let you know what I think and if you need the harness. From my understanding the harness adapter saves you the trouble of splicing wires for some of the functions of the DCI, but I could be wrong.

Yes get the harness adapter with the DCI

It will save you splicing the honda wiring loom or the alpine connector loom.

I would also reccomend that you connect the speed volume control wire as this will save you continually adjusting the volume manually.

The 9855 is a huge improvement over the stock head and if you go for the ipod option you will never regret it, as you suddenly have music for all moods.
