Default Alpine Head unit with dash control problem.

I have an Alpine CDA7894RB head unit installed with the KCE-865B dash control unit. There is a problem with when turning up the volume using the dash controls. The volume control appers to be cross wired and sometimes ( within the first 10 minutes of starting up) changes the radio station channel or CD track. The problem does go away after the head unit has been in operation for about 10-15mins.
Any ideas how this can be corrected?

Shameless product plug:

here

Provides flawless dash controls and more features than what you've got now.

I haven't heard about your problem before. I get alot of business from people unhappy with previous dash control solutions they have purchased, but never anyone that had a problem with the Alpine European adapter. Has it always happened, or was it only after a while of working correctly?

If some operation time seems to solve the problem, it's most likely related to a heating issue...my first guess would be the resistors used for the dash controls are right on the edge of the two functions' values. Another possibility is a flaky signal connection between the head and the controls...warming up the unit may affect a mechanical/electrical connection between the two.

Barring a connection that needs to be remade, replacing pieces is about the only way.

like jeffbrig said, I would recheck your connections (both at the sources and at the connectors) and the integrity of the wires (not pinched or burnt), make sure they're tight. Similar to what MacGyver said, I would make sure no condensation is getting into the connections and would probably try just wrapping them in electrical tape to ensure that.

See there are no real connections with this unit. I have the same thing and everything is premade by Alpine, its all plug and play. This KCE-865B is the wiring harness for unit as well. The remote interface is completely hardwired.

Personally I think like MacGyver said. The values must be very close and sometimes it might interpret the wrong thing.
