Alpine iDA-X001
I still use CD's sometimes.
Just doesn't make sense for something to cost this much when it just passes through a signal basically.
I thought all the mechanics involved in the CD system is what made these pricey (laser, pickup, spin motor, etc).

Here's some interestng reviews on this unit. Personally I'll be sticking with my 9835 because of the tuning I can do with it. But this is a nice unit.

Hmmm...thought I wanted it, but Im not so sure Im willing to give up CDs....dont use it often, but I do use it.
Also, I do not like NON-rotating knobs....
I will need to play with one to be sure. The website says April, but the engadget says February....Did Alpine go back to the drawing board last minute?

The first time I saw the iDA on the Alpine website (while CES was still happening, I think), it indicated February availability. But the next week it had changed to April.
Considering that they've been over a year late on certain products, I'd consider April a little speculative. Not to say it's not a nice unit...if it had been out when I purchased my 9857, I'd have been inclined to go with the iDA instead.

maybe with out the CD now Alpine can put a FM Tunner that works well.
I hate my 9857 because I cant get the Radio to sound good, would have dumped the CD for that!

WOW cool! I think I am missing something though. This can't just play iPod.... If it had a CD player and radio, it would sell like the iPhone. iAlpine anyone

so essentially you CAN get it to be an iApline... but will have to fork over a LOT more $$$ hehehe
sweet HU though
