Default Alpine iDA-X305S & iPhone 5

I figured i'd post this to help answers questions i couldn't find.

So when i first got my iPhone 5 i tried plugging my lightening directly to my 305s and it couldn't play the music or Pandora on my phone, the display read.."USB ERROR"

Finally today i was able to get my hands on the iPhone 5 adapter and plugged it into my 305s and vuola it WORKS!! also charges my phone too

Good information to have. I imagine alot of iPhone 5 users will have issues with their old usb plugs for their HUs.

Yeah, from what I have read about the new iPhone 5 cable it is going to have a lot of problems with most head units from 2012 and older...and probably with the new 2013 line ups as well. The biggest issue is going to be with video head units. The new lightning cable will only transfer audio and data through the cable, so anyone with a video unit...it won't display any video. Just some food for thought for you guys and gals with video head units.

The year doesn't matter. The lightning adapter doesn't support iPod out and it doesn't support video. If your interface relies on those then you'll have problems. If it doesn't, no worries. None of my iPod interfaces do.

The new Lighting port and cable DOES support a media out, but with if your using the lighting to 30 pin adapter then it doesn't.

Your going to have to wait for the Lighting to Hdmi or VGA cables.

Your best bet is to return that iphone thingy and get a real phone, like a Galaxy S3.
