this looks really cool.. think I will be picking one up when it is released in October this year.

The specs look good. Let's hope it isn't a colossal flop like past Parrot head units.

Are there really 6 RCA outputs because only four are pictured.

What's your criteria for "better"? The word doesn't mean much without qualification. Never assume that your needs/wants are universal.

The 3rd pair of RCA jacks labeled for SUBWOOFERS L/R are on the wireing harness.

I took it back to Fry's Electronics and went with the Pioneer DEH-80PRS. The Parrot Asteroid was a good stereo but most of the "application" features were inconsistent and falling behind the times of what competing 2012 head units are achieving with Bluetooth. The 15-20 second boot and shutdown times started to get on my nerves. The knob was large and somewhat sharp; got to feeling uncomfortable to use and also felt resistant to rotation. I really liked the large display but it was wasted on a lack of information and customization to use the space. The unit rebooted at least 3 times that I cognizantly noted, each being a "WTF was that moment". TuneIn was able to stream over my phone but the buffer was so short that a small gap in service would cause minutes of silence while the signal synced back up (if ever).

I almost went for the Kenwood KDC-X996 given all the features it has standard. However, I have the X995 in my other car and I kind of wanted something different. The Pioneer doesn't have HD (WTH!) and only displays 3 lines instead of the Kenwood's 5 but overall, reviews show some really impressive SQ tuning features, has 1 more USB slot (2 total), an SD slot, and an interesting 3-layer xover. I've looked over every single-din H/U under $500 and I'm convinced that these two are the best of the best through 2012. I wish there was something out there that basically docked an Android based phone or somehow provided a ~3" touchscreen but there just isn't anything out there of quality.
