I was looking into installing the Alpine unit you are talking about... I wanted to install the display "remotely" to make it more user friendly. I spoke with an engineer at Alpine and he told me they had not had any success in doing so, because with a longer display cable there is too much electrical interference.

I ended up installing the Pioneer DMH-C5500NEX as show in the picture... no dash cutting required for this particular install (ver 1.0). I still need to install the bezel around the display, and make a few other tweaks.

I would like some more details on this! From the specs i see online it appears to be about the size of an ipad mini?

my guess is you can mount the screen with a modify bracket with a strong magnet. I used to do that with a nexus 7 tablet and it never budged
