Hi Matt,

If you're having to pay for the Imprint runs to be done, then wait until all the kit is installed for the best results. It does depend on what the time frame for the new amp and speakers is. If it's over a year, then it may be worth it, but if you're going to do it in a few months' time, just do a manual tune up using the time alignment and parametric EQ that are already on-board the 9887.

claus, due to there being some snow and lots of ice everywhere, our mini meet has been postponed for the time being. I'll post up the results when we eventually get the install done.
thanks for the reply

Thanks for today Simon, nice to iron out all the issues caused by the sloppy fitter - (hard slap to face for being a numpty) but the upshot is, the sound is so much crisper, properly lifted up.

Played a range of stuff from UB40, Texas, Pendulum and some classical and the results were the same every time, hearing things in the music that have been missing up until now.

Thanks for persevering withit

No problem, I'll get some more screen shots up at some point.

Some more screenshots for you all

unclefester - All worked once we'd connected everything up properly

lovegroova - I've fiddled with the gain on the amp for the components, which are bi-amped

PaulF - now with new amp and sub - HU is driving the Alpine components

You can see the benefits of fester's extensive sound deadening - everything is much smoother to start off with. PaulF and I still have a dip ad 500Hz and a peak at 1kHz, as well as a peak at around 8kHz.

Anyway, hope it's of interest.

I'm pretty sure that 500hz dip is the boot area flexing and resonating - wonder if that's the same frequency as the drone / boom that comes with aftermarket exhausts, that's something else I don't suffer with.

Either way it still sounds much cleaner after the imprint

We should run some frequency sweeps...

Now that sounds like a chuckle, might annoy a few of the resident spiders!

Your wish is my command:

Last Saturday, unclefester very kindly helped me out sticking lots more bits of sound deadening material to the boot (trunk) areas, as well as adding even more deadening to the doors - the original installer had done a pretty good job, but more was added to the doorcards themselves.

I've now managed a new Imprint run this evening, now that the wind has finally died down here and the birds stopped singing once it got dark, and here are the results.

You can see that the new sweep is much smoother, which means there's less processing for Imprint to do, which in turn means my system now sounds the best it's ever sounded.
Here's the previous sweep for comparison:
