I've got a Alpine 9885 unit on the way and I'd like to hook my iPod mini up to it. Unfortunately it looks like I have a version 1.3 mini and it won't work with Alpine's full speed cable (422i). Is there another option besides a new iPod that will give me some control from the head unit? Is it possible to use the 422i cable with an older iPod with less functionality?

I think you need the 420 unit...forgot the exact model number.

 

That's what I was afraid of. I'll probably just use the AUX and switch between Sirius and iPod as needed. Guess I need to check out my options for powering the iPod.
