I ordered one from Crutchfield today. There's a 10% off $50 coupon floating around for Visa purchases, made the total $89 shipped.

Coupon here:

Nice one - you should post that up in the 'deals' thread.

Wish I'd seen it before I ordered my second one from crutchfield - the first one is going back to Ed and Al's Autosound when I get the crutchfield one for $35 less. If I seen your posting first, it could have been $50 less!

Okay, I'll post it in the deals forum. Crutchfield usually has a coupon like this (and sometimes an even bigger one for MasterCard). Sorry I didn't post it sooner.

What would be the best setup to mount the ipod after setting up the interface? Any recommendations?

Thanks!

I was going to mount mine in the change tray so I could just drop it in like a docking bay - but I just bought an '04 console so I have to find someplace else.

I have the apple black clip holster thing and just clip it to the cargo net on the passenger side.
Mounted the alpine thing under the passenger seat. 10 min. job but it looks good and more importantly sounds great.

Has anyone with a KCA-420i installed tried playing a file from audible.com. Alpine seems unwilling to answer my question about audible.com encoded file compatability.
Thanks

Does it not play through the Alpine HU? In theory it should play if it plays on the iPod. Right?

I think it depends on who is decoding the files. If the ipod is decoding them an passing audio to the interface then things should be fine. If the interface is reading data from the ipod and passing it to the HU and HU is decoding the files (MP3's) and the HU is not Audible.com enabled then things probably won't work.
