Default Alpine Minidisc Changer

I decided to go w/ the Alpine CDA-7969 instead of the F#1 system--Hell of alot cheaper Anyway I wanted to know if anybody that is overseas that is a member could possibly get their hands on a brand new in the box Alpine Minidisc changer. As far as i know it should be compatible because it is Ai-net linked. Any suggestions or info would be of great help.

The model type for the Alpine minidisc changer is MHA-S670 if anyone would be able to order one for me, I would be willing to pay extra---unit rus about 600.00 converted from the Yen. Please PM or post reply w/ any info!

I was in Japan recently and I had the same idea to hook up the MD changer to the usdm head unit but it was a no go. I asked around and it turns out that the connectors for all the jdm head units (Alpine, Kenwood, Sony, etc.) are slightly different from the usdm units and as such, changers cannot be simply plugged in as the electronics with those components are different.

Now if you go and purchase a jdm head unit, well... you know. But since you already bought the head unit, only way you can hook up an md unit is to use the rf adapter which plays at a lower quality through radio frequencies.

Thanks for letting me know. Thats a bummer. Why does Japan get all the good shit?? Its funny though, when I had the CVA -1005 the demo mode showed the minidisc changer as an option, to bad the US market doesn't have enough interest for MD. maybe w/ luck they will come out w/ one over here that is compatible.

It is a real bummer as the MDLP has just been released recently allowing for the MD to hold more regular audio than the CD does. For each 80 minute MD, it can hold up to 320 minutes on a total for 4 layers. Each layer in the MD holds up to 80 minutes times 4 totaling 320 minutes of music! And only in Japan do they offer the MD changers that have this feature. My home mini stereo has this type of MD recorder/player so I do want to have a unit in my car that can read the extra layers. I found one alternative but it's only a head unit, no changer available here yet.

Anyhow, Sony is the one to finally bring it (MDLP) over here for US consumption, so I may just purchase that for around $269 even though I wanted to stick with Alpine initially.

I have been waiting for the last 4-5 years for MD to catch on here but I am quickly losing hope.
