Default Alpine T220 amp question?

Is a t220 amp enough power for the alpine type-r components or Infiniti Kappa components?i do not plan on adding a sub or anything else. i bought the alpine 9857 HU already. Sorry if this is a dumb question. When it comes to audio, i have no idea, thanks in advance!

this is the link for the specs Alpine MRP-T220

The Kappas? No way. The type-Rs, maybe... it's always better to provide more power to the speaker than not enough. Too little power produces distortion, which kills speakers. I'd go for this amp instead, unless you're getting the MRP-T220 at a deep discount (Alpine discontinued it by the way)... The Pioneer GM5200T.

It gives you 125wrms x 2 and should be plenty for whatever component system you decide on. It's pretty cheap too, at only $160 msrp (you can probably find it cheaper).

Too little power does not produce distortion. Trying to get more volume out of your speakers than your amp can supply power for causes distortion. How loud do you need it? The Infinity Kappa's are very, very high effiiency. Plus, they are 2 ohms if you are talking about the current models. That means you would have the capability of putting 70Wrms to each speaker. They are rated to take 90Wrms so you could use more amp that is if you needed the extra volume. Alpine also has a reputation of under-rating their amps too. I have 4 Kappa co-ax's in my truck running off of 44Wrms max and they sound great and get very loud. The tweeters aren't great but the components you are looking at would come with better ones anyway.
I don't know anything about Alpine speakers but that they are 4 ohms and you could only put up to 50Wrms to them with that amp.

P.S. The Pioneer amp above has the capability of putting 190Wrms to the Infinity's. That is more than twice their rating. This won't neccesarily blow the speakers but it may me more than you want as you are likely unable to set the output anywhere close to that without blowing the speakers.

Good call; didn't know the Infinity's are a 2-ohm speaker.

the alipine amp will definately sound better IMO but yeah since it is a 2 ohm speaker the t220 should be enough. Let me know how the kappa speakers fit because I am deciding between kappa and kappa perfect components.
