Default alpine type r's just installed today

i just got them installed today they are the componet ones, my question is that i have to turn the volume up all the way to get good sound. but when i do some songs sound really bad. like to much bass i notice this more on rock songs than rap. right now i have the compnets set at -3db and its the fac head unit. the bass setting on the head unit is at 0. does this sound right to you guys? i tryed it at the differnt setings for the comp but -6 is to much gone and -1.5 is way to much

thanks

Type R's like a little juice - prefferably clean juice. The factory head unit is probably not provide nearly enough power until it is at its most distorted/maximum volume.

You may get better results from a high power HU, but they will sound much cleaner/crisper with an amp either way.

Says "fac head unit" in his first post = assume that means factory one

doh! Its late... I can't even read right... I just got home from the shop about 20 minutes ago.... I guess I should have cut out sooner.

In that case you'll need to give those speakers a LOT more power. Those poor things are craving power and your stock HU is feeding them MAYBE 10watts of power. Not even close to what they're rated at not to mention its dirty power not clean amp power.

i have them and i have a 9856 Alpine HU. Sounds great the reason the some of the songs seem to get moe bass then others is becomes of ..well i dont know how to put this. Lets say some people modify the songs ( as in the equilizer) when they burn it or tweak it etc. So thats why it comes out that way. I could go dl 2 songs that are the same but from diff people and it would sound different because it was tweaked. But back to the sub go get another HU the stock one wont do.
