Alpine Unit/Ipod Auto-Off
I have the CDA-7995 w/ the ipod interface and I've noticed recently my ipod mini (w/ latest update) doesn't shut off ocassionally and sometimes the deck doesn't anymore either after I turn off the ignition. Is anybody experiencing these similar problems? Thanks.
I've seen the iPod part with my Alpine, and I've heard about it with other brands of HUs as well. I've experienced it most with a 3G iPod when it was very cold out, and once or twice with a iPod mini.
When it happens, the iPod runs down, and next time you get in your car, the HU can't find the iPod unless you manually disconnect the iPod. Once you click to start it, and get it going, plug it back in, and the adapter will recognize it. If it doesn't have enough power to start, you'll need to leave it plugged into the adapter for a minute to power up while the car is on.
Never heard of the HU refusing to shut off though. This is when you turn the key to off?

Yes, this is when the key it OUT. My unit has been a bit screwy lately though. Maybe just cause its old, do you think I should consider upgrading? Does alpine have an upgrading policy?
